I can’t recommend The Bourne Ultimatum enough. It is an intelligent, exciting, political action/spy/espionage/thriller that takes the formerly ho-hum multi-genre into a fresh and electric direction. But this isn’t a movie review, unfortunately.
As I was watching the movie, the organization and structure of the story resonated with me in a very unexpected way. Let me [...]

Another day, another rant about Hollywood and videogames. This time inspired by Clint Hocking’s latest blog post, “Convergence ‘No longer a theory’“.
The ire of his post comes from a recent announcement Michael Bay is creating a game for Digital Domain, a former Hollywood SFX powerhouse founded by James Cameron. Cameron since left, Bay is now [...]

It is an interesting read because it shows just how far the divide between games and film remains, partly because the gaming industry still hasn’t matured enough to create great stories that could stand on their own. Our industry’s greatest [...]
Reading an article on IGN’s FilmForce, I was hit with a sudden urge for a quick post.
The article gave a couple of juicy bits regarding the planned Neon Genesis Evangelion live-action feature. First, they said they are “close to a deal” with “three A-list directors”. Interesting, but Michael Bay is already taken…
The next bit really [...]

Oh, joy. Steven Speilberg is making video games.
Video games are already approaching feature-film budgets, and even smaller developers are producing theatrical-quality CG cut scenes in their games. Most games even support Dolby Digitial soundtracks. So why do we need Steven Speilberg? Do we need more emotion in these cut scenes? Louder explosions?
What contribution to the [...]
